I like to make things that make my heart sing. When I look at an object, hear a song, or read a verse, I want to feel a resonance with it in my chest. So that's what I try to make.
The drawings are made for intimate spaces. They are reminders. Reminders of someone/something loved; that the world can be/will be a better place, and that they can be happier in it. This laborious drawing process invites concentration and solitude for me and the viewer. The "Tool" drawings are a celebration of texture, patina and lovely old beat up junk. The beauty of the beat up - the elevation of the old - the rebirth of refuse.
The paintings are where I can go a little wild with free-flowing color, impromptu composition and asseblage. I get the paint and power tools and just have at it until I'm happy and I think that painting will make someone else happy.
Mostly I want to make things that bring joy and that people love to live with.
