This portrait was a huge challenge for me! All the cats needed to be combined into one painting from different reference photos, at different angles, and with different lighting. But they all needed to look natural together, as if they were posing for a portrait. It took many, many sketches to get them together successfully.

I loved the challenge of these beautiful Savannah cats. Their sparkling eyes and distinctive markings are lovely. One of my favorite parts of the artwork is the window and the architectural details, that was a nice change of pace.

Rumor has it that the happy recipients of this gift slept with it on the first night. That’s some cat love!
